Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles (seasoning packets discarded)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (divided)
  • 1 pound sirloin steak (trimmed of fat and sliced into 1 1/2-inch strips)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and cornstarch until combined. Add in the beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cracked red pepper flakes. Whisk until everything is well mixed. Set aside.
  2. Bring a medium pot of water to boil. Cook ramen noodles until just tender, about 2-3 minutes. Drain them and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season steak strips with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Add them to the skillet and cook without moving for about 3 minutes to brown well on one side. Then stir and cook for another 2 minutes until fully cooked through. Remove steak from skillet and drain any excess grease.
  4. Add remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet along with fresh broccoli florets. Pour in 1/2 cup of water and cover. Steam broccoli for about 2 minutes until it's bright green and fork-tender but not mushy.
  5. Return the cooked steak back into the skillet along with the cooked ramen noodles.
  6. Give the prepared sauce a stir before pouring it into the skillet with other ingredients. Use tongs to mix everything together as it cooks for an additional 1-2 minutes until evenly coated and warmed through.
  7. Serve immediately while hot, garnished with sesame seeds on top for added flavor and presentation.
