Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until sticky dough forms.

  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down dough and transfer it onto a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil and create dimples using fingers. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  7. Melt butter with minced garlic in a saucepan; brush over the focaccia before baking.
  8. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
