  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 sticks unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 7 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk or cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Pink coloring gel (optional)
  • 4 oz dark chocolate chips
  • 4 oz heavy cream (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease three 8-inch round pans.
  2. In separate bowls, mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt) and wet ingredients (buttermilk, oil, vanilla).
  3. Cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time.
  4. Gradually combine dry and wet mixtures; divide batter into three bowls for chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry layers.
  5. Bake each layer for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
