  • ¼- cup water (at 75°F)
  • 1 glass jar or bowl (about 32 ounces)
  • 1 paper towel
  • 1 rubber band

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour and water in a glass jar or bowl until it forms a thick paste.
  2. Cover the container with a paper towel secured by a rubber band to allow airflow.
  3. Place the jar in a warm area (around 75°F) for about 24 hours; look for bubbles indicating fermentation.
  4. After 24 hours, discard half of the mixture, then add another ½ cup of flour and ¼ cup of water. Stir well and cover again.
  5. Repeat this feeding process daily for about a week until it’s bubbly and has doubled in size.
